Who we are

Cornerstone is a multisite church, worshipping and serving across 5 communities in North West Cumbria. Spreading from the Lake District National Park to the beautiful Solway Firth, we serve and praise God in some beautiful places!

At the heart of the Cornerstone vision is our desire to Love God, serve one another and be the people of God in the places where we live and work.

Where we come from

We are a Methodist Church, which began with John Wesley who had a heart to see God’s message of hope brought to people who didn’t engage with church.   Singing and worship is also a huge part of the Methodist identity.  Find out more about the Methodist Church here

In our area, there were several Methodist Churches, and in 2018 we came together to form one church, with 5 “bases”, under one leadership and vision, and with one heart for people in our communities.  In 2021 we formed part of a new, bigger Methodist Circuit called “North Cumbria”. 

Where we’re heading

Our vision is to grow a church that loves God and builds relationship with him, grows people in their faith journey, shares the love of Jesus and serves others around us.

We’re committed to loving and serving the communities God has placed around us – reaching out beyond our walls and offering to others the hope that we’ve found in Jesus.

And we do all of this because God loved us so much that Christ came to die for us, defeat death for us and offer us a life in eternity with him.

What that means for you

Well, most importantly, it means that we have a message of love and hope that we’d love to share with you. There’s a space for you in our church – whoever you are, whatever you look like, wherever you’re coming from.  And whatever part of our church you want to be part of (you don’t have to come on a Sunday).
