Chaplaincy

Rural isolation

Here at Cornerstone, we believe God made us to live and be in community with others.  This can be really hard when you can’t get out and about, or you feel isolated at home, and this is especially an issue in rural communities.

We’re trying to tackle some of this in various ways through outreach and support.

Nursing homes

Across a number of the Cornerstone communities, we offer short services, singing and pastoral care to the nursing homes.  We have also partnered with one of our local primary schools who are seeking to bring fun, intergenerational acts of worship to their local nursing home.  If you’d like to enquire about these services please hit the button below:

Agricultural chaplaincy

In our (mostly) rural location, farmers lie at the heart of our communities – managing the fells, caring for livestock, providing our food and maintaining the land.   We’re also aware that farming is a stressful and tough way of life – not for the faint-hearted! – and that there is a high number of suicides in this profession.   We’ve joined with Cumbria Agricultural Chaplaincy  to be part of the team that provides support and prayer for local farmers and those linked with farming.  In Wigton auction mart (where agricultural sales of animals take place)  most sale days we have chaplains available to chat with staff, farmers and members of the wider agricultural community.
