Silloth

Silloth town

Silloth is a fantastic little seaside town, featuring award-winning parks, beaches and cafes – it’s a Victorian seaside resort with lots of history, lots of open space and some amazing people!  It sits on the Solway coast with views across the firth to Scotland.

The Methodist Church in silloth

There have been Methodists in Silloth for many years, there even being 2 Methodist churches in the town at one point.  We had changed worship in the building to a much more informal setting with sofas in the school room but a series of issues with the roof meant that we finally had to say goodbye to the building. We now meet in Norman and Maggie’s house for similarly relaxed worship comprising plenty of coffee and conversation (and a good laugh) as well as exploring the Bible, prayer and some form of sung worship.

A new vision

A new vision started to emerge of a more relaxed, house-based church, a place where people could come, day in/ day out, to find the love of God.  A place where all are welcome.

While we continue to to worship in a home, we have not let this vision go and wonder what God may one day do with the people called Methodists in Silloth.

We feel we’ve got an exciting future in this town!
